DPSI LR - LongGo Regulator

An obstacle to the rapid distribution of the lithium-polymer cells as receiver batteries for small models is the fact that these batteries have too high a voltage, and would damage the receiver station without appropriate reduction. A lithium-polymer battery, consisting of two cells, has a rated voltage of 7.4 volts. But the receiver station as a rule may only be operated with a maximum of 6.0V. The DPSI LR was developed to reduce the voltage to a permissible value.

An electronic, self-locking switch (switching principle as in the DPSI RV), for which an effective voltage regulation is downstream, will now permit the use of LiPo batteries for every receiver station for which a DPSI RV system would be too large (small gliders, E-models, F3A motorized models, F3C helicopters or ignitions for gasoline engines). The DPSI LR can also be operated with 5-cell batteries without a problem, since the Drop Out losses are only about 0.15 volts. With 5-cell batteries as well, a constant output voltage of 5.5 volts or 6.0 voltsis thus possible!

Various versions are available to allow for every type of application: with Multiplex high-current plugs and with Graupner JR connection cables. In addition, three different output voltages are available (5.0 volts / 5.5 volts / 6.0 volts). This makes the DPSI LR suitable for electronics hobbyists as well, who need a constant 5 volts supply for their circuits and want to operate them with LiPo batteries.

An effective heat dissipation allows high output currents without damaging the electronics. This cooling is used in the DPSI LR to enable minimum weight. To save another 0.5 oz (15 grams), a version with on board on/off switch buttons is also available. In this case, the switching procedure is done not with the usual DPSI switch transmitter, but rather with an on and an off switch button on the circuit board. Here too, maximum safety is ensured. The switch-off button must therefore be held down for at least 2 seconds when switching off in order to disconnect the system.

Of course the DPSI LR also has microprocessor-monitored voltage measurement and an acoustical (as well as optical) low voltage display to prevent unintentional total discharge of the sensitive lithium polymer batteries. Here, too, the user can program the type of battery (5-cell, 6-cell NiCd or NiMH or LongGo), so that all types of batteries can be used.

More information on the DPSI LR:

  • Here too, the switching technology guarantees a no-signal current consumption in switched-off position, which does not discharge the battery. This quiescent current is less than 1µamp! This ensures that no damage can occur to the battery, even if it remains plugged into the DPSI LR for a long period of time (e.g. during the winter break).

  • All switch transmitters of the DPSI RV series can be used as on/off switches and are available in four colors (black, white, blue, red).
