DPSI Micro |
The DPSI Micro family comprises several high grade electronically components about supplying power to RC models.
Special attention was paid to minimum dimensions and low weight.
But no limitations were allowed for safety or quality.
Therefore, all products of the DPSI Micro Family comprehend the same technical highlights of the DPSI series and are built for highest strain of rough every day model flying.
The dimensions of the DPSI Micro systems are just 73mm x 19mm x 10(14)mm / 2.9 x 0.75 x 0.4(0.55)" at weights of only 20g-28g / 0.643015 oz. - 0.900221 oz. (incl. connection cable).
Due to the small form factor, the DPSI Micro´s also ideally suitable for small glider fuselages.
As a special highlight noteworthy to mention, that the On-/Off-switch (electronically in all systems) is already completely integrated, i.e. there
is no external switch necessary anymore!
Safety, innovation, quality - all wrapped into a shapely housing: DPSI Micro.

The DPSI Micro - DPSI RV generates its output voltage out of two independent batteries (NiCad, NiMH, LiIon or LiPo), which is selectable in two steps, in order to supply the entire receiver equipment.
Because of the usage of a linear regulator (not a switchable one), the DPSI Micro - DPSI RV does not generate any disturbances which could limit the radio reception.
The generously dimensioned heat sink allows for high current loads.
Due to its selectable output voltage, the DPSI Micro - DPSI RV also finds its usage in helicopters, where tail rotor servos do not allow for voltages above 5.5 volts.
A central, ultra bright LED indicates low voltage or other errors through blink codes reliably.
The proven intelligent IVM-algorism assures for correct recognition of the actual battery state.
High voltage peaks caused by the so called servo dynamo effect are effectively suppressed as well.
|
The actual On-/Off-switching event happens by using an external magnet, which is just put to the corresponding On-/Off-position at the DPSI Micro.
Because the switching occurs totally contact free, the DPSI Micro can be mounted inside the fuselage.
It is therefore not necessary to cut larger holes into the fuselage.
Small holes for the LED (and optionally for both mounting screws) suffice.
A delivered sticker for the outer fuselage sidewall signals the switching positions and serves as drilling template as well.
|
The Magnetic Power Switch - RV is an electrically On-/Off-switch with downstream voltage regulation and therefore excellently suitable for usage in combination of LiPo batteries.
Differently to the DPSI RV (battery switch) only one battery is connected.
Otherwise, the DPSI Micro MPS-RV features the same functionality as the DPSI Micro - DPSI RV.
|
The DPSI Micro MPS (Magnetic Power Switch) is an electronically power switch, which is turned on or off using an external magnet
which is just put shortly to the On-/Off position.
This is absolutely safe, thanks to the contact free electronically switching.
No dirt, humidity and temperature changes can lead to erroneous turn off.
There is no more safety!
Because of the contact free usage of an external magnet, it is unnecessary to cut large holes into the fuselage.
Three small holes for the LED and both mounting screws suffice.
An ultra bright LED signals the turn-on-state independent of the voltage.
Due to the design of the circuitry it is possible to connect batteries with a voltage range from 4.5 volts up to 24 volts.
The DPSI Micro - MPS is therefore ideally applicable for all switching tasks - independent of the input voltage.
The maximum possible current ranges suffice for almost all applications and are only limited by the diameter of the cable.
An additional, integrated charging cable allows for charging of the battery without disconnecting it in advance.

The DPSI Micro - RCS (Remote Control Switch) is an electronically, remotely activated On-/Off-switch.
Just connect it to a receiver output (e.g. throttle servo).
The switch position is freely programmable.
This switch is applicable for switching the ignition system of gasoline engines.
With the throttle trim in lowest position, the ignition system can be turned off, in idle, it is turned on.
Because the voltage to be switched can be up to 12 volts and the continuous current can range up to 8 amps, the DPSI Micro - RCS
is best applicable for consumers like illumination, pumps or similar.
The circuitries of the receiver and the load to be switched are entirely galvanically (electrically) separated, so no negative effects can
influence the receiving equipment.
An integrated micro controller monitors the battery voltage of the consumer using an intelligent algorism (IVM) reliably and warns about eventual low voltage using blink codes of an ultra bright LED.
5- up to 10-cell NiCad/NiMH and 2- up to 3-cell LiIon/LiPo batteries are supported.
As an additional feature, the DPSI Micro - RCS protects the battery from total discharge by turning the consumer off, if so
desired.
Especially for LiPo batteries, total discharge is an expensive experience, because the battery is damaged in this case.
Due to the programmable cut off threshold, battery damage is inhibited!
A failsafe cut off tops this functionality.
This means, the consumer (e.g. ignition system) is turned off, as soon as no valid signal from the receiver is recognized.
This function is programmable, too.

The DPSI Micro - RCS-RV corresponds to the DPSI Micro - RV in its functionality.
The only difference is the regulated output voltage of 5.5 volts and the allowable input voltage is limited to max. 8.4 volts.
Due to the usage of a linear regulator (not a switching one), and galvanically decoupling of both circuitries, the DPSI Micro - RCS-RV
generates no disturbances at all which could harm the radio reception.
The generously dimensioned head sink allows for high current loads.
The voltage regulation in the DPSI Micro - RCS-RV for instance allows for usage of LiPo batteries for ignition systems used for
gasoline engines which are not applicable for LiPo batteries otherwise.
Battery voltage is monitored for the DPSI Micro - RCS-RV as well (for NiCad, NiMH, LiIon and LiPo selectable) and errors or
eventually occuring low voltages are reliably indicated by blink codes.
The DPSI Micro - RCS-RV also can turn off the consumer timely to avoid total discharge of the battery, if the customer so desires.
Programming of the parameters of the DPSI Micro - RCS (RV) is simply done using an integrated programming switch in combination of the distinct positions of the remote radio transmitter stick.

Additional Informationen for the DPSI Micro Family:
-
Because of the usage of linear power regulators, losses occur which are transformed to heat.
The regulator works just like a valve.
Input is a higher voltage (e.g. 7.4 volts); output is a regulated lower voltage (e.g. 5.5 volts).
The difference of the higher input voltage and the lower output voltage (1.9 volts in this case) has to go "somewhere" of course
(overflow for a valve).
In the case of a voltage regulator, the difference is converted to heat.
Therefore, DPSI Micro systems are equipped with generously dimensioned heat sinks which get warm at high loads.
- The elaborated circuitry technology guaranties for a quiescent current consumption during turned off times, which does not discharge the
batteries.
This quiescent current is less than 1µA (a receiver draws approx. 60.000 times the current)!
It is therefore made sure, that no damage can happen to the batteries by slow discharge.
This is accomplished not only because the switching is not done by the microcontroller. The controller is totally without power while the
system is turned off (no standby mode with increased quiescent current).
A malfunction or undesired reset of the controller can not turn off the DPSI Micro
.
