LongGo Lithium Polymer receiver batteries "SAFE"

Batteries of the "S-Klasse"("S" means Safe) carry an integrated safety circuitry, which protects the Lithium Polymer cells effectively from the consequences of misuse. The LongGo "S" series was especially developed for higher safety requirements (e.g. drones and intelligence flying objects) and therefore corresponds to the high quality demands of EMCOTEC GmbH.

Since Lithium cells are very sensitive to over charging and total discharge, this stage is effectively inhibited through the integrated circuitry within the battery. Over charging protection separates the single cells automatically from the charging cable when the battery is fully charged. Due to this protection the cells can not be destroyed even through erroneous charging (e.g. wrong charging program or wrong number of cells).

Deep discharge protection separates the battery from the connection cable if the battery voltage reaches approx. 5.0 volts (cell voltage 2.5 volts). Herewith the cells will not be damaged, even when it was forgotten to turn of the equipment. The electronics even shuts of the battery and inhibits damage, if the cells are overloaded (shortcut).

Just like the LongGo "N" batteries, the LongGo "S" batteries also possess a charging connector on board which exhibits (starting System 2005) the center tab of the cells. That's why the LongGo "S" batteries also can be charged using the balancer charging cable in order to bring the cells into "consonance".
By the way, the circuitry in the LongGo "S" batteries dissipates extremely little quiescent current, which does not discharge the batteries or even damages them.

The LongGo "S" batteries starting System 2005 are unlimited applicable for turbine ECU's, because the circuitry in the battery was developed from the very beginning. Now, there is no shut off after even very short high current pulses (> 40 amps). Only after currents way far over 40 amps and more than 100 milliseconds duration, the circuitry shuts the cells off for security reasons.

Technical Data of the LongGo "S" receiver batteries:

Battery Type  Voltage  Capacity  Weight  (approx.)  Continuous  Current  Peak  Current  Length  (inch)  Width  (inch)  Thickness  (inch)
 LongGo 2000 "S"  7.4 volts  2.0 amps/h  4.5 oz  10 amps  20 amps  5.8  2.6  0.4
 LongGo 3300 "S"  7.4 volts  3.3 amps/h  6.2 oz    6 amps  13 amps  5.8  2.6  0.55
 LongGo 4000 "S"*  7.4 volts  4.0 amps/h  8.0 oz  15 amps  30 amps  5.8  2.6  0.75

* LongGo 4000 "S" with redundant cells in the configuration 2S2P for even more safety!

Peak current: current for a maximum of 5 seconds. When using batteries with the DPSI RV / TWIN / BIC systems the maximum possible current in the total system doubles because 2 batteries are always connected to the DPSI RV / TWIN / BIC. The current suffices for receiver sets in any case, because even for many digital servos the average current does not exceed 5 amps (15 digital servos) up to 8 amps (24 digital servos).

Up to now released chargers (choose charging program with 4.2 volts/cell):

  • Our recommendation: Orbit chargers(starting € 96,- see online shop)
  • All chargers with LiPo charging program and limiting step up converter. Not limiting step up converters in chargers can generate high voltage peaks which can destroy the electronics in the LongGo "S". All Orbit chargers possess these limiting step up converters and are state of the art.

Additional information about LongGo batteries:

  • Use only with DPSI family (RV, TWIN, LR, BIC) when used as receiver power supply
  • Use only chargers released by EMCOTEC GmbH/li>
  • Observe charging current (1C max.) and charging voltage (number of cells = 2).
  • Observe maximum current load capability of the batteries.
  • Protect against mechanical force (squeezing, push, bend, drill)
  • Do not open or cut the batteries in any case, do not throw in fire, keep away from children
  • Do not short cut the battery in any case
  • Do not discharge the receiver battery below 5.0 volts (2.5 volts/cell) otherwise they are definitively damaged! Charge already at 6.0 volts
  • Do not operate the batteries below -5°C (23 degree Fahrenheit). Capacity decreases dramatically below freezing point!
  • Protect batteries from heat (mount far away from hot parts like muffler)
  • Before storing (e.g. winter) charge the batteries - don't store when discharged!
  • Do not leave the batteries unattended during charging
  • In case of fire with LiPo batteries involved (e.g. crashed burning jet), NEVER extinguish using water, but use powder extinguisher instead!
Due to the high energy density (up to 190Wh/kg), the cells are not harmless and require special care! EMCOTEC GmbH shall therefore assume absolutely no liability for damages that arise from incorrect handling of the lithium polymer cells.
