EMCOTEC LiPoSaver 1S...10S

Single cell monitoring and precise measuring tool for Lithium Polymer flight batteries with automatic limitation of the motor controller output at low voltage of single cells! For 1S up to 10S LiPo batteries.

The EMCOTEC LiPoSaver protects Lithium Polymer flight batteries from low voltage and threatening battery loss e.g. because of inflating of single cells) by lowering motor power by down adjusting the motor controller. Here, the absolute voltage of the battery is not considered for low voltage (what does not make sense anyway) but the voltage of every single cell in the battery. The EMCOTEC LiPoSaver is placed in between the receiver and the motor controller and passes the receiver signal (throttle) unchanged as long as each single cell of the battery carries a high enough voltage. In order to measure the cell voltages, the EMCOTEC LiPoSaver is simply connected to the balancing connector of the battery. If connected, the voltage of each single cell is monitored by a microcontroller cyclically. As soon as one (or more) cells fall short of a certain voltage, the LiPoSaver takes corrective action in the motor controller operation. Using a PC for programming, different reactions to under-voltage are adjustable. The channel for controlling the throttle for instance can be adapted linearly to the cell voltage. It is also possible to point the pilots attention to a threatening low voltage through some generated throttle impulses.

For the first time, flight can continue, until the battery is really empty without the risk, that the cell or the whole battery is damaged. The pilot realizes a cells low voltage or the battery getting empty by the indication of the throttle impulses or due to the reduced motor power. There is still enough power to land the model safely. An additional alarm output can be used to connect an ultra light LED which blinks in case of low voltage and, mounted to the fuselages sidewall, is visible even at greater distances.

SMD-Jumper allow for simple configuration of the EMCOTEC LiPoSaver for 1S up to 10S batteries (3.7volts to 37 volts) and therefore suit for all applications. Furthermore, several LiPoSavers can be cascaded in order to monitor pricipally even up to an arbitrary number of cells!

The EMCOTEC LiPoSaver is equipped with a PC interface in order to measure and monitor the voltage of each individual cell "online" (e.g. during charging). For the first time the user can measure and display the voltage of each (!) single cell. There is an indication if certain thresholds are exceeded during charging (discharging) as well as all important states of a cell are displayed by different blink codes of the built in LED's! Using the PC software the thresholds and the limitation values can be programmed. Herewith the LiPoSaver is easily adaptable to different situations (e.g. influence of temperature, competition conditions etc.)

Therefore the EMCOTEC LiPoSaver is an important instrument to protect the battery and servos additionally as an high grade measuring device in order to monitor online the voltage of each individual cell of a LiPo battery.

LongGo Balancer charging cable

Using the LongGo balancer cable, LongGo receiver batteries (2S1P or 2S2P, LongGo "N" as well as LongGo "S") are automatically balanced during charging. The voltages of the single cells are identical after charging which increases the lifetime and charging cycles of the batteries.
The LongGo charging cable is usable for all LongGo receiver batteries of the "Serie 2005" series (respectively for LongGo batteries containing a charging connector with center tab "M" on board).

Balancing is done in two steps: depending on the voltage of the single cell, balancing current is either low or high. If the maximum charging current is set to less than 400 milliamps at the charger, the battery can not be overcharged, even when a wrong number of cells is selected, because in this erroneous case the total charging current is drained by the balancer.

Technical Data of the LongGo Balancer Charging Cables:

  • Current Consumption: 10 µ amp in quiescent state
  • Balancing Current 1. stage: 250 milliamps
  • Balancing Current 2. stage: 400 milliamps

  • Length of the charging cable: 32"

*** NEW ***There is a adapter connector available for the LongGo balancer cable. With the help of the adapter a 2-cell LiPo battery can be connected which possesses a JST connector (e.g. 2S batteries from Graupner). Practically all 2-cell LiPo batteries on the market (7.4 volts nominal voltage) can be directly charged using this balancer connection! During charging the battery is simultaneously balanced. The charging current in this case should be limited to a maximum of 0.5 amps.

  • Current Consumption: 10 µ amps in quiescent state
  • Balancing Current 1. stage: 380 milliamps
  • Balancing Current 2. stage: 530 milliamps
  • Connections: DSUB9 and 3x MPX connections

*** NEW *** There are adapters available which allow for connection of all LiPo batteries which connect through a JST connector (e.g. Graupner). Practically all LiPo batteries on the market are connectable. The adapters are available for 2S up to 5S batteries (MPX connectors) as well as for 2S up to 7S batteries (DSUB connector).

Orbit LiPo-Checker Pro

The new Orbit LiPo-Checker Pro is a consequential enhancement of the LiPo-Checker. It balances up to 5 cells. Adapters for different battery types are available (JST, TP etc.). Feedback via the alarm cable to the charging device is still possible. As a special feature, the new LiPo-Checker Pro balances the battery cells even befor they reach their final charging voltage. This means, that even cells of batteries, which are not being charged, will be balanced agains each other.
