The last model-building fair closed for this year. Friedrichshafen (Exhibition Lake of Constance) was again a successful event! The new DPSI RV Mini Family including its integrated servo-matching feature was very well accepted, also the DPSI V-Match (Servo-V-Cable with integrated servo-matching) - see for more information at our e-shop.

We thank you, our customers as well as all interested parties for visiting us! EMCOTEC is of course continuously acting and engaged in the RC-model building field. We continue to embrace our customer’s high confidence and we will not let them down in their expectations for meaningful new products!

The new exhibition booth from EMCTOTEC caught many looks. Here too, quality and seriousness is first.

The airship (Zeppelin) dropping gummy bear was very well accepted by little “junior pilots”.

Based on many pilots’ requests an innovative product was developed again: the DPSI V-Match.
The DPSI V-Match is a V-cable including a servo-matching system for connecting two commercially available servos to one receiver output (or DSPI output). One servo signal is fed through without any change; the second can be manipulated for direction center- and end-positions.

There is no external programming device (like PC or any other system) necessary. A simple magnet (delivered) suffices. Settings are done directly with transmitter and remote control set. The DPSI V-Match provides for more than 3200 steps resolution and can provide power (up to 8 amps continuous current!) to two powerful servos thanks to its 4 layer printed circuit board.

The smallest and most light weight servo-matching system with highest power: 3200 steps resolution, 4 – 8.4 volts voltage range, effective LCL-filters, servo-pulse amplifier for 2.7 volts receivers, simple programming – high tech made by EMCOTEC.

The first by DAeC authorized model airplane using 2.4GHz receiving technology!
August 1st, the first model airplane using 2.4 GHz and weighing more than 25kg was certified on the fields of Aero-Club Rheidt e.V. (D - 53859 Niederkassel)! The Challenger II from Peter Ritters has 2.7 meters of wingspan and weights 28kg. It was equipped with the Robbe/Futaba FASST system as well as the dual receiver / dual current supply from EMCOTEC (DPSI TWIN). Certification conducted by the DAeC assigned tester Udo Menke as well as all verification flights were flawless!

Peter Ritters (pilot of the Challenger, left), Udo Menke (assigned tester for aviation equipment for DAeC and responsible for certifications of airplane models over 25kg, center) are pleased about the successful premiere: 2.4 GHz for huge models – no problems!

Besides reliable remote control techniques (Robbe/Futaba) receiver and battery redundancy was built in from EMCOTEC. Robbe/Futaba remote control components are available from EMCOTEC’s e-shop shortly!

The Challenger II is equipped with components from EMCOTEC (DPSI TWIN, DPSI ICE, LongGo batteries). For the required receiver redundancy two Futaba R6014 receivers were connected to the DPSI TWIN. The DPSI ICE did not indicate any receiver errors after the successful flights. Receiving quality was 100% at any time!

******** IMPORTANT INFORMATION about Futaba 6014 receivers (2.4GHz FASST system) ********

The new 2.4GHz Futaba receivers are powered internally with a lower supply voltage of approx. 2.7 volts. Therefore the level of the servo signals is also considerably lower than in "normal" receivers. There are discussions floating in the internet concerning incompatibilities with battery switches and current-distributors. EMCOTEC DPSI RV Systems (as well as DPSI TWIN systems) are not concerned and can be utilized with no reservations! Due to by default conducted FMEA at EMCOTEC, these kind of incompatibilities are eliminated during development in the first place.

Only the first generation DPSI 2001 from the year 2001 (recognized by serial number stickers containing "Sebastiano Silvestri Edition") can not be used with this Futaba receiver. Of course, we modify your old DPSI 2001 at factory costs on customers demand.

Pulse evaluation in EMCOTEC DPSI products in comparison to some competitors products. DPSI systems do not have any limitations in terms of pristine and correct pulse recognition.

In future, we will publish information about technical details of our products on a regular basis, which shed light on function and mode of operation for our interested customers.

First of all, we inform about the temperature changes in LiPo-powered supply systems. Lots of discussions tell us about the great interest of our expert customers in this field. Click onto picture for more information.

The LC display for the DPSI TWIN Mini will be available in March. For optimal use of all the new functions we will provide a software update for the DPSI TWIN Mini which is easy to install.

The display shows at the first look all urgent data on a high-contrast LC display with 3 lines and 12 characters each. Among to the receiver quality the amount of switch-over will be shown as well. 8 additional LED report an errorfree system state without the need of reading the LC display. With push buttons all information can be scrolled consecutively. The LC display can be mounted as a shapely cockpit instrument in the model.

A new software has been released for the LiPoSaver battery supervision system. According to some useful hints of our customers we have changed the firmware as well as the PC software. Please refer to Downloads => Software.

Supplementing the HF TWIN page with comparing measurement, some additional information and interesting facts.

Comparison of the MC24 HF TWIN to a competitive product (dual frequency module). Here it is clearly to see that so called inter-modulation frequencies occur in the competitive product, which are far above the limits of the CE guide lines.

An innovative idea again from EMCOTEC: the Servo-V-Limiter allows for usage of servos of different supply voltages within a receiving system and is ideal for reducing voltages of tail rotor servos which only may be supplied with 4-cell batteries.
The Servo-V-Limiter is put in between receiver (or servo distributor / gyro) and servo like an extension. By using a real voltage regulator (not a cheap diode solution) the servo is – load independent – always supplied with a constant voltage.
A version with 5.9 volts output voltage is applicable for supplying “regular” servos in a DPSI Mini HV system.

The Servo-V-Limiter weights just 4.8 grams / 0.15 oz. and supplies the connected servo with a regulated voltage of 5.2 volts. The 5.9 volts version can also be used as a miniature LiPo-regulator for HLG models.

We are very pleased that Roland Matt, the multiple European champion in the F3A category, utilises DPSI Micro systems in his models. We wish all success for the world championship in Argentina this year.

The DPSI RV family was expanded by the description and photograph of the DPSI HV Mini 5. With this DPSI, high voltage servos are usable in conjunction with regular servos at the same time without any problems.

We will introduce the new DPSI TWIN Mini at the "Intermodellbau" in Dortmund. Its predecessor, the DPSI TWIN was the first dual receiver and dual battery switch worldwide invented by EMCOTEC. If disturbances are encountered by a receiver, the DPSI System automatically turns over to the other receiver to allow for continuous operation, even if a receiver fails. Demands for more channels and usage as a stand-alone version inspired to the consequent development of the DPSI TWIN Mini.

By the way, the world´s first redundant stand-alone receiver switch system was already invented by C. Nicollet from France in the nineties. Here, 8 channels from 2 receivers were switched, independent from the type of modulation. For many years, the receiver switch from C.Nicollet was successfully used in large models in La Ferté Alais. Meanwhile, the receiver switch is well accepted and is cloned by other companies in similar form.

The first redundant “stand-alone” receiver switch system was already developed and sold by C.Nicollet from France 10 years ago.

A considerable improvement was realised with the DPSI TWIN Mini which switches up to 16 channels and communicates with a PC, thus fully leveraging what is feasible technical wise, as opposed to the limiting 8 channels of the receiver switch from C.Nicollet. The DPSI TWIN Mini is under test since February 2007 and will be available in the e-shop next.

The DPSI TWIN Mini automatically selects the receiver with the best signal out of the two connected receivers with up to 16 channels and switches all servo outputs to the error free receiver. Herewith, receiver "diversity" is possible, independent from manufacturers.

We introduced a new product series at the exhibition Sinsheim which is available on the market end of April: the DPSI Micro series. Demands from customers for small power supply units for F3A, F3F, F3B, F5B, F3C etc. forced us to develop the smallest LiPo-capable battery switch worldwide. As usual for EMCOTEC, these DPSI Micro systems too, are put into high grade plastic housings. As a specialty, we integrated a new switch-technology, which constitutes the technical maximum for safety: a magnetic switch. Switching occurs totally without mechanical parts and therefore contact fee: there is no more safety possible!

This year too, we were represented 2007 at the exhibition "Faszination Modellbau" in Sinsheim. We want to thank all visitors! We were especially glad for the positive feedback for out products! This shows to us that we are going the right direction. We will continue to broaden the market with our reasonable ideas and products.

The DPSI 2001 RV is now equipped with an even more high grade protection against voltage peaks from high power servos ("dynamo effect"). All interfering voltages generated by servos are blocked by special electronically parts just like the DPSI OCP.

Furthermore, the DPSI 2001 RV is also delivered with plug-connectors on the receiver side. Now, just as for other DPSI RV systems, patch cables of different length and design (JR UNI and MPX) can be connected and exchanged if necessary.

We will introduce the new "DPSI BMS" at the exhibition Bodensee (Lake of Constance). Due to enormous demands for a displaying system similar to the DPSI BIC for large battery switches or dual power supplies, we developed the "DPSI BMS" (Battery Information System). For the first time, all relevant values of the power supply, e.g. battery voltages, currents, capacities etc. read from a LC-display. The "DPSI BMS" is applicable for all battery switches and consists of two galvanically separated (!) measuring channels for currents up to 20 amps and voltages up to 16 volts per channel. The "DPSI BMS" is simply put in between the battery switch and both batteries. Turning on and off works automatically, as soon as the receiving equipment is turned on or off. The EagleTree product range is constantly extended. Due to our close contacts to EagleTree in the USA, a 2.4GHz telemetric set is soon available. The range for data transmission therefore is considerably increased. Soon available: representation of the GPS coordinates in Google-Earth!

EMCOTEC presents a worldwide novelty: the DPSI OCP (OverCurrentProtector). This is an electronically overload protection as well as a protection against the “Dynamo Effect“ of high performance servos. Here, the DPSI OCP is simply put in between a current source (e.g. receiver) and a consumer (e.g. servo).

For the first time, blocking or defective servos do not lead to short currents, which can empty batteries or damage cables and connectors (e.g. cable fire). The DPSI OCP interrupts the current flow in case of exceeding a maximum threshold and therefore protects the whole system. Blocking landing gear doors, shorts in wires, blocking drives in pumps: the maximum allowable current in the system is never exceeded.

The successor of the most successful dual battery system of its kind, the DPSI 2001 RV is available right away! The DPSI 2001 RV combines the functions of the DPSI 2001 and those of the DPSI RV systems and is of unlimited use for LiPo batteries. In sum, 46 (!) capacitors protect from the “Dynamo Effect“ (servo current feedback) when using high performance servos.

DPSI RV systems have undergone a facelift. Selection of output voltages changed to 5.0V / 5.3V / 5.6V und 5.9V. Furthermore, the screenprint of the housing became colored and therefore received an even more high grade design. Prices kept stabil.

The french aeronautical authority, which is responsible for approval of air plane models over 25 kg of weight, cleared the DPSI TWIN. Until now, models of this size had to be equipped with 2 separate battery switches, 4 batteries and 2 receivers. The DPSI TWIN is the first system at all, which is allowed to be used in this stand alone way!

The LongGo Light flight batteries are now available as 12C versions! There is more power available at minimal higher weight.

IMORTANT ADVICE: all LongGo flight batteries starting from 4S are being measured by us! That's only available at EMCOTEC! Only this way, it is made sure, that the customer receives an absolutely 100% functioning battery. Batteries with cells which differ more than +/- 1.8% are being sent back to the manufacturer and are not forward to the market. Due to the elaborated measurements and unfortunately increased raw material costs, we had to increase the prices somewhat. For little extra charge, we deliver the measuring protocol along with the battery.

The world largest, ready to fly, model airplane, the Shrike Commander from the Swiss Aerobatic Group of Peter Hartmann, uses equipment from EMCOTEC! This impressive model was built in approximately 14.000hours and weighs 328kg (721pounds) at a wing span (scale 1:2) of 7.80meter (25.7feet). Only best components where used for the Shrike Commander. All of the electronically parts including current distributions as well as a redundant transmitting and receiving system were applied by EMCOTEC.

The Shrike Commander is the world largest flying model airplane. 2 engines, 1000ccm (60cubic inches) each, developing 140PS (138hp) are used as the power plant!

Only the best components were built in. The picture shows the DPSI ICE instrument along with the power on/off switch and voltage indicators for the batteries (switchable).

Both DPSI TWIN as well as the current distribution for the servos (in summary, more than 40 servos are built in).

Production of the DPSI 2001 was terminated. Starting May 2006 we deliver the successor of the most successful battery switch of its kind: the DPSI 2001 RV. Functional range was extended by adding voltage regulation for the entire system. Therefore, usage of LiPo batteries is now possible. Undervoltage monitoring including optically and acustically indication tops off the facelift.

We are glad that we could convince one of the largest and renowned manufacturers in the field of model building in Europe about the quality and capabilty of our products. The english homepage has been updated completely and corresponds to the German homepage from now on. Furthermore the e-shop has been updated and supports english language as well as german. All products are listed in the e-hop now.

EMCOTEC from now on is the exclusive distributor for products of   Eagle Tree Systems, USA and delivers the German and Austrian market with data logger and telemetric systems. Trader requests are welcome! All products will be available starting end of January!

As from now, JST adaptors for EMCOTEC's 7-fold Balancer are available. All LiPo batteries with JST (EHR) connectors (e.g. Graupner/JR) can be connected.

The exhibition "model making Lake of Constance" took place from November 18th to November 20th 2005 in Friedrichshafen. For the first time, EMCOTEC was represented with its own booth which caused sensation with its cute design. We were very pleased about the many visitors and the big interest about our products.
